'Jonathan Made Us Delay Anti- gay Bill Because Of Obama’s Re- election' - David Mark

Former senate president,David Mark, says former President Goodluck Jonathan made the
national assembly delay passing the anti-gay bill because of concerns former US President
Barack Obama raised at the time he was seeking re-election.

Mark made this claim in ‘Against the Run of Play’, a book which chronicles how Jonathan
lost the 2015 presidential election, written by Olusegun Adeniyi, a journalist and bestselling author.

The former president’s relationship with the
Obama administration was at first “rosy” before it became frosty.

In the book, Jonathan blamed Obama for his electoral defeat, saying in 2014 it became clear
that the former US president wanted a change of government in Nigeria. This was after he had
signed into law a bill prohibiting same-sex marriage.

Mark told Adeniyi that Jonathan caused a delay in the passage of the bill because of Obama.

“President Jonathan called me that President Obama had sent to him a message of concerns about the bill. That
was in 2012 at a time Obama was seeking a second term in office,” he said.

“President Jonathan asked what could be done and I told him that not only was
I committed to the passage of the bill that was also the position of the national
assembly.
“I said the only thing I could do was
delay its passage till after the American
presidential election. But I assured him
that the same-sex marriage was not
something we would legalise in Nigeria.
“We delayed it for a few months after
that, but we eventually passed the bill
into law and President Jonathan had to
assent.”
The national assembly under Mark passed the
same-sex marriage prohibition bill in May 2013.
And Jonathan signed it into law on 13 January,
2014.
The law prescribes 14 years imprisonment for those convicted of homosexuality.

'Kemen Has Called Me Over 15 Times, But I'm Not Ready To Speak With Him' -TBoss

Tboss,3rd Runner Up of the just concluded Big brother Naija has revealed that Ex-Housemate, Kemen has called her over 15 times since she returned to
Nigeria but she isn't ready to talk to him.

TBoss says although they have met a few times at functions, she isn't ready to speak with him.

She added that she felt violated by Kemen's action.

"I considered Kemen a friend. He was my go-to guy. He was my buddy, my muscle. He
encouraged me. He motivated me. So for what happened to have happened considering all the people that look up to me, it was sad. I was
angry. I was humilated and I did feel violated but I don't play the victim card. I honestly think
that the decision that Big Brother took was the
only decision that could have been taken.

And everything that Kemen has to say about that, na
him get him mouth, e fit use am talk wetin him
wan talk but he knows and we know".

Asked if she has seen him since she came out
of the house, TBoss replied; "I have seen him a
few times but I really don't want to talk to him
because honestly the day you (Ebuka) came
into the house with Karen, I was thinking what
would happen if I see Kemen because I thought
there would be a party after then. I just wanted
to slap him.
I think I even said that but then I came out and
I said you know what everyone can make
mistake because I am an attractive person but
then, I come out and I hear the interviews he
has given, today he makes an apology and then
tomorrow he comes out to say TBoss knows
what happened and that if there was no N25
million involved, hopefully she would tell the
truth. What truth are you talking about? You are
contradicting yourself. And then you are calling
me? He has called me like over 15-20 times but
I don't want to speak to him. I am not ready
because if I talk, I would say the wrong things.

STORY:BEAUTIFUL BELINA (Season 2,Episode 40)

"I don't love him. I didn't
love him before. I guess I
was just attracted to him
and I definitely did not
hug him,

I bumped into him" I said then proceeded to
explain how it had all
happened.

He nodded. "now, you want
me to believe all that and
you won't believe me?" he
said quietly. He inched
closer to me, his anger
obviously fading. "Oyinade
is just an over-ambitious
girl. You've known me for
a
long time now, who do
you believe? You do know that you are free to believe
what you want"

I looked at him silently. I
trust him and always have but the evidence I had got
was too much to put
away.

I looked down but he used
his finger to raise my chin,
causing me to look into his eyes again.

"I want you to discern the
truth from my eyes, look
at
me. I have not told you
about all these because I did not want to hurt your
feelings; and also due to
your condition. You told
me
you didn't like her and I
did not listen and it hurt me to
have her confess her guilt.
Prisca found out the truth
and was wise enough to
play the detective role"
Richard smiled, causing me
to smile also.
I scoffed and said in a
quiet
voice. "And do you also
believe that there is nothing
between Kelvin and I? I
don't even love him, at
least
not even up to a quarter of
how much I love you" He smiled. "I knew that
and
that is why I made peace
with Kelvin today". I
raised
my eyebrow in surprise. He
laughed.
"yes, I was
surprised I did that too. He
finally gained
consciousness and I just felt
pity instead of the usual
anger I feel. He challenged
me for helping him
despite
our dispute, saying that all I
wanted was to shove my
victory in his face" he
shook
his head. "all I saw then
was a man who is deeply
embittered about the
prospect of losing you. It is
definitely too much to
handle and if I were to be in his shoes, I would have
done likewise. I offered
him
my friendship after a long
time arguing my
intentions, he accepted. I guess he
was
just touched that I could
help him after all he did to
me."
I laughed happily and hugged him tight. I have
already forgiven Kelvin
immediately I heard of his
accident. "I love you
Richard, very very much"
He pulled me and held my
waist, looking into my
eyes
with a thoughtful look. "Do
I love you? Hmmm… I love
you like kilode"
We roared in laughter,
laughed and laughed. The
Yoruba language sounded so awkward from his
accentuated mouth that
the
mere thought of the word
made me laughed the
more. "I love you" he kissed me
deeply. "so we are settled
now right?" he stretched
lazily. "Do I now get a
proper welcome kiss?"
I scoffed.
"What of the one
you stole now?"
"As you've said, it was stolen" he stood, waiting.
I
inched closer slowly and
when his eyes were
dropping shut, I kissed
him on the cheek, leaving him
spell bound. I jumped on
the bed and covered
myself
with the blanket. Trust
him, he ranted and ranted
about
how unfair that was,
coming over to disturb the
living daylight out of me.
*** Richard held my waist
from
behind, startling me. The
aroma in the kitchen was
so heavenly that even my
mouth watered. After the usual kisses and greetings,
I
turned to him, holding his
neck with my hands and
gazing up at him. He
looked round and round, trying to
determine what I was
preparing but I refused to
tell him. After an
extensive
try, he gave up and took my
advice of sitting in the
sitting room and watching
TV. I smiled. He has no
idea
what I had in store for him

STORY:CONFESSION OF A TEENAGER (Episode 2)

I have seven siblings from two
mothers and one

father.

My father married my

stepmother after my
mother was unable to give

birth
to a child after six

years of marriage. As if

controlled
by some external spirit, my
mother

took in few months after my

stepmother was

brought home by my father.

However, my

stepmother was already

pregnant.

Kenneth my
eldest brother was born by my

stepmother before

Osarugue, my sister, was born.

Kelvin came next from my

stepmother's womb,

and then I did from my

mother's.

My mother took

over the baton completely by

giving birth to two

other children -Victory and

Nosa-
giving her a

perfect number of two males

and
two females.

My stepmother balanced the

equation by giving birth to a

set of female twin twelve years after

I was born. Father was hardly ever at

home while I was

growing up, and even up till

now, he is rarely at

home. He spent more time

away

doing business

than taking care of us at

home.life was sweet.

Really sweet,playing with my

brothers and sisters.

People said polygamous homes

are not peaceful but our own

home broke that theory.We

lived in peace that strangers

can never notice the home was

polygamous.Theyalways

allowed us play anything we

wanted to.They never had time

to follow us around or spy on

us since they were always busy

breaking melon and should i

say gossiping.

Our father

only spent four

days in a month with us, until

recently he

increased it to six days. He

claims

he is doing his best to ensure

we

have a good life.I never had

time to be with my dad,to know

and learn things from him,just

like other children. I appreciate

his efforts though, but it is

unwise to

shop a shoe for a

foot that has been cut off from

the body.

From one movie to

another, the TV became

irresistible. Sometimes, we

would

watch movies

up till midnight before my

stepmother would send

us out of the living room like

tenants owing rent. ……..
