mother in law would test you with everything and nothing pleases them more than knowing you’re hardworking and would never turn their
sons into slaves; when she asks you what
would you like to eat say in this exact manner

“Mama tell me what you would love to eat let
me cook and serve you” she might protest and
call you a visitor but please do not be deceived
follow her to the kitchen and assist and while
you’re there do not stand like a robot, chat her
up make her smile and ASSIST!
Show her you are a prayer warrior, if she
sneezes say “Bless You Ma” if she complains of
backache say “The Lord Will Heal You Soon”
before you eat a meal in her house offer a
prayer, anything you say infuse and quote bible
verses, you can never go wrong with these.
Mothers love to be pampered, on the D-day
your future husband has deemed you worthy to
meet his mother do not go empty handed, go
with a gift be it small or mighty go with one. Do
not dress scantily or shabbily to go visit her, do
not apply heavy make-up, do not make crazy hairstyles even if your man likes you that way,
you aren’t trying to please him it’s his mother
who might have the final say especially if he is
a mummy’s boy.
Learn his language if you’re from different
tribes, nothing pleases a mother more than
conversing with a stranger in her own language,
don’t go there and be forming Oyibo, even white
women have learnt to please our men by
cooking our local meals and learning our
languages if they can do these my sister who
you be? Based on logistics.
Are you a Muslim woman? Do you observe your
5 daily prayers? Do you wear your Hijab often?

Do you go to the mosque? If the answers to
these are NO NO NO And NO! carry your prayer
mat along when going to visit her, show her
you’re devoted Muslim .
Sometimes I look at my Mother and I say haa
dear baby Jesus I don’t want my mother as a
future mother in law biko, why? Because my
brother is her only son and any girl he brings
must have a comma, she’s too short na Ikechukwu, hian but why’s she so tall Nnam?
Oh she’s a tailor, so you didn’t see a graduate
abi? bia Nwokem when will you bring the right woman, I look at her and say but you chased
them all away na, when they sleep over its war,
she monitors when you wake up, how you do
chores, how many worship and praise songs
you can sing during morning devotion and if you
dance worldly during church service lol, but
when she likes you even my brother can’t chase
you away.
Sometimes it takes very little for a Nigerian
mother to love you, most times it takes a whole
lot, it’s always under the guise of “I am doing
what’s best for my son” funny thing is when we
become mothers we exhibit these traits without
even knowing, but do you know what conquers
all these? Love, unconditional love, I have met
girls who have prayed for their future mother in
laws to be dead before her son comes to marry
her, some women go into marriages ready to
battle their future mother in laws, but this is all wrong, Nigerian movies has even made it worse
with the portrayal of mother in laws and how
selfish, mean and diabolical they can be.

The way you treat your mother should be the
way you treat every elderly person, the moment
her son marries you; you are automatically her
child and you should accord her all respect you
would your real mother because one day reverse would be the case and Karma doesn’t
forget, do all the things you did when you met
her, some mothers honestly can push you to
the wall but always chant this Mantra “WHAT IF
SHE IS MY MOTHER”

Sunday Lesson:10 Reasons Why It Is More Blessed To Give Than To Receive

The most unbelieved beatitude in the Bible is:
“It is more blessed to give than receive” (Acts
20:35).

The giver happier than the getter? Surely some goodmistake? That goes against all our intuitions
and instincts. So let me help you to believe it
and act upon it by giving you ten reasons why
it is more blessed to give than to receive.

1. Giving obeys God’s command

The Old Testament has way more commands
about financial giving – who, when, and how
much – than the New Testament. Maybe the
New Testament writers just assumed that as
God had given far more to us in the New
Testament – giving Himself to death – that our
giving should follow fairly logically and easily.
But, just in case we might miss the link, there
are clear New Testament commands also (e.g.
1 Corinthians 1:2). As all of God’s commands
are given to enhance our lives, obeying this
command will increase our happiness.

2. Giving submits to God’s Lordship

Every act of obedience recognizes that there is
a higher authority in our lives, that there is a
Lord over us who is entitled to honor and
respect. Due to our temperament, personality,
or circumstances, we may find some
commands relatively easy to obey. Our
submission is really tested in the areas where
our own nature and situation make obedience
more difficult. For most of us, money is one of
those areas. Our wallet is often the last citadel
to fall to God’s rule, and even when it does fall,
it gets rebuilt and re-secured again all too quickly.
If only we could remember that Divine Lordship
is not a threat; rather it’s the place of greatest
safety.

3. Giving exhibits God’s heart

God is THE giver of every good and perfect gift
(James 1:17). As His image-bearers we are
called to copy His giving, to be mini-pictures of
His infinitely large heart. The larger our hearts
(and the wider our hands), the larger the
picture we paint of God’s character. What do
people think of God when they think of the way
you use your money?

4. Giving illustrates God’s salvation

At the heart of the Gospel is sacrificial self-
giving (John 3:16). That’s why when the
Apostle Paul wanted to encourage the
Corinthians to give more, he pointed them to
the person and work of Christ. “For you know
the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though
He was rich, yet for your sakes He became
poor, that you through His poverty might
become rich” (2 Corinthians 2:9). Yes, you
abound in faith, love, etc., but “see that you
abound in this grace also.” When we give
sacrificially, painfully, for the benefit of others,
we are faintly and on a small-scale preaching
the Gospel message.

5. Giving trusts God’s provision

The biggest deterrent to giving is fear, the fear
that if I give away too much I won’t have
enough for this or that. When we give
sacrificially, above and beyond what is
comfortable and easy, we are expressing our
faith and trust in God to provide for us and our
family. This is not an argument for folly, but for
faith. Many Christians have discovered the joy
of casting their crumbs of bread upon the
waters and multiple loaves returning after many
days (Ecclesiastes 11:1). It’s such a joy to see
God fulfill His promise of provision when we
obey Him.

6. Giving widens God’s smile

The Lord loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians
2:7). It delights Him to see His people gladly
opening their hearts and hands to provide for
the needs of His Church and indeed of all His
creatures. Through Paul, God repeatedly
commends and praises those who gave of their
funds and of themselves to Gospel work (2
Corinthians 8:1). There’s nothing that makes a
Christian happier than knowing that she’s made
God happy, and happy giving means a happy
God.

7. Giving advances God’s kingdom

Many of us have contributed to Apple in one
way or another. We have helped to grow the
company from a garage operation to the
worldwide empire it is today. And I’m happy
about that, as it’s a company that has brought
many blessings to the world. But think of what
blessing results when we fund the mission of
Christ’s church. We are paying salaries of
ministers and missionaries. We are funding
resources for outreach, evangelism, and
discipleship. But above all we are investing in
the spiritual and eternal welfare of people from
every nation, tribe, kindred and tongue. Our
dollars are changing homes, relationships,
countries, and even the eternal destiny of many
souls.

8. Giving promotes God’s sanctification

Giving not only promotes God’s work through
us, but also God’s work in us, our
sanctification. Giving money, especially when it
pains us, requires much self-denial and self-
crucifixion. However, as every act of giving
weakens and even breaks our sinful and selfish
nature, the more God’s grace spreads in our
hearts. Yes, money leaves our pockets, but sin
also leaves our heart. And that’s a great deal.
Priceless actually.

9. Giving testifies to God’s power

Although we are not to let our left hand know
what our right hand does, it’s pretty obvious
that Christians give a lot to their churches and
Christian charities. Even secular observers have
noticed with amazement how generous
Christians often are with their money. They may
not say it but they surely must think it: “This
must be the real deal for people to give away
so much of their own money. They must really
believe this stuff. The God they worship and
serve must be incredibly powerful to make
people so generous.”

10. Giving praises God’s character

Giving in a right spirit is an act of worship. It is
rendering Him a tribute of praise. It is saying.
“You gave me everything and here is a small
expression of my gratitude and praise for all
your good gifts. It’s only a token, a sample of
what I really feel, but you know the heart that
lies behind it. As David sang: “What shall I
render to the Lord for all his benefits towards
me?” (Psalms 116:12)

'My Parents Forced Me Into Marriage At The Age Of 19'-Patience Ozokwor

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor has revealed in a recent interview with RTV,a Ghanaian TV that she got married at the age of 19 although it wasn't his decision but that of her parents.

The Evangelist said she was left with no choice than to accept the decision because she was not raised to disobey her parents.

She said:
"It was not my decision. And if it’s not my decision then I was forced into it. I did not see any reason my parents were
forcing me as I was still young. And even at that age I had so many suitors and
they just wanted me to get married. You
know when you come from a polygamous family and your mother is struggling for
her own daughters to get married and this other one is also struggling for her
own daughters to get married and when this one came around and I said no I
should make a choice. but I was not allowed to make that choice.'

They didn't give me that choice and at the end,
I had to obey my parents. I was not brought up
to disobey them at all."
When asked if she enjoyed the marriage, she
replied saying
"Sincerely speaking as a Christian I did
not."
Adding that he was once married to girl
who was arranged for him but the
marriage didn't work out.
"The girl was sent to London to meet
him but she got there and found out she
didn't like him so she decided to move
on with her life. So they didn't leave
together as husband and wife.
He waited till after he came back after
the war to come and marry me and
there was no reason for that."
Speaking further on her marriage, she revealed
that it wasn't easy at all for her as a young girl
"The marriage was not easy at all for me
as a young girl, it was not easy but when
you have two children and it is also not
in the culture of my parents for you to
jump from one man to another. I lost it
sometimes and I had make due with the
children God gave me that is why I am
very close to my parents.
When asked her view on marriage she said;
" It is an ordained thing by God and it should
be honoured. When a man and woman are
declared man and wife that is final, your plate
of food is out of your parents' house.
She further said that there are only two
reasons a person should leave their spouse
according to the bible, life and infidelity.
"If life is involved, God did not say don't
separate. God has standards and
christians must adhere to the standards
of God concerning marriage because
there are one or two things that a
husband and wife divorce otherwise it is
not coming from God. So it didn't come.
I didn't catch my husband cheating on
me and he didn't catch me so we had to
stay together until death parted us.
When he died, I became free, people
started coming for my hand in marriage
but I said no, it's already late"

Ini Edo Finally Opens Up On How She Feels After Divorcing Her Husband In 2014

Veteran Nollywood actress, INI Edo has finally opened up on how she feels since she left her husband in 2014.

The actress, speaking on ‘Rubbing Minds’ a Channel Television programme, reveals that she is happy to have divorced that her husband.

She said;
“Maybe being together would have helped keep us together. Because it would enable us to study and understand
each other more. Maybe it would have helped but I’m not sure.
Asked if her estranged husband was comfortable with her kind of job, she said;
“He met me an actress and I believe he was okay with that.
“Actually he complained. My work takes
my time and interferes with so many things.
“I tried to keep my [movie] roles as decent as possible when I got married.
But naturally, there are certain roles you
won’t be allowed to play.
“Even when you are allowed to play them, you can reject them not just because of your husband but you got
relations as well.
Asked if her former husband’s family interfered
in her marriage, she added;
“He was the last child, so family
members will try to see if their child is
doing okay.
“I try not to regret the time I spent in
marriage but I will say, it’s been an
experience I have learnt a lot from. It
made me a stronger person. It made me wiser and I think it actually made me
more mature.”
