Table Tennis Player Slumps And Dies While Training In Kwara State
Timothy Abiara, on
Thursday in Ilorin slumped and died while training at the table tennis hall of the State
Stadium Complex.
The News Agency of Nigeria
(NAN) reports that Abiara represented the state at both the 2011 and 2012 editions of the
National Sports Festival in Port Harcourt and Lagos.
Abiara died during a game with another player, suddenly holding his chest and shouting, with
those watching the game thinking he was
reacting to a lost point.
He was confirmed dead at the State General
Hospital, where he was rushed to.
NAN recalls that late Abiara, who hails from
Ogbomoso in Oyo State, was a fashion designer
by profession, and was aged 45.
He was survived by a wife and four children.
The State Commissioner for Sports, Kale Ayo,
described the situation as pathetic, even as he
commiserated with the family of the deceased.
The State Director of Sports, Tunde Kazeem,
who also confirmed the athlete’s death, described it as a sad and unfortunate situation.
He however charged other athletes to always
embark on regular medical check-ups. (NAN)

Buhari Reportedly Cancels Medical Trip To London, Invites Physicians To Nigeria
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday changed a plan by which he was due to return
to London this weekend for another round of
medical treatment, barely two weeks after his
return from a hospital there.
Instead, his doctors will be arriving on Friday to carry out
further medical examination on him.
Sources at the Presidency informed
SaharaReporters that the president’s advance
party had already left Abuja earlier in the day by
Ethiopian Airlines before they were recalled to Abuja.
Our sources say the hawks within the
presidency advised against taking the president
abroad so soon after his seven weeks away, as
that would begin to feed the rumor mill all over
again about his ailment.
In a short televised address upon his return,
Buhari had hinted about returning to the
hospital shortly, saying there might be a need
“for further follow-up within weeks.” Given the
topsy-turvy political climate in the country,
however, his advisers felt it was unwise to allow him to stay away for too long.
The president has traveled to London several
times since coming to power for a medical
reason before traveling earlier this year for a
prolonged medical treatment. He had also
traveled there in June 2016, reportedly
consulting with an ear, nose and throat
specialist after he contracted an ear infection.
The latest developments come as pressure is
mounting on the presidency to disclose how
much was spent on his 49-day “medical
vacation” in the United Kingdom, with Nigerians
saying they have a right to know.
Activists, including well-known lawyer Femi
Falana, and civil society groups such as the
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability
Project, the Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open
Leadership, and the Campaign for Democracy,
among others, argue that the medical bill is of
public interest because Buhari touted transparency and change in public affairs when
he ran for the presidency.

It has been reported that there is a serious rift between Leicester City forward Ahmed Musa
and Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr because of the player’s attitude.
“He seemed to have some problems with the team when Samson Siasia was briefly in charge, but he made the mistake of carrying this into

excused from camp to attend to family issues, but SCORENigeria has since gathered the player
asked to leave camp, and he did that at the crack of morning.
But this was only the culmination of the
problems between player and coach as Rohr
has been far from pleased with Ahmed Musa’s
general attitude particularly on the pitch.
It would be recalled that Ahmed Musa drove into the team’s training camp with an expensive
Range Rover Sports he had acquired just days
to a crucial World Cup qualifier in Zambia in October.
The coach was miffed by this as he expected
all the players in camp to focus totally on the
game in Ndola, Zambia.
“The coach did not even mind this. It’s the
player’s attitude he has not been happy with,”
further informed another official. “He did not pull his weight even in training.”

to see d hefty guy drop him like a bag of

stop her from going over. Kelvin was busy

with quick strides; her concern not on his
welfare though.
“Kelvin” she breathed,
thinking her eyes might be betraying her.
He spun like an automatic machine with a
glare stamped on his face. On sighting
Prisca, his frown & anger seemed to

“What under heaven do u think u are doing here?”
she asked alarmed.
Kelvin hissed
“Have I not had enough of that ridiculous question? What else do u think I am doing
here?” he growled.

Water Shortage: Students Turn To Gutter Water For Survival In Ghana(Photos)
Koforidua Technical School (KOTECH) at Koforidua in the
Eastern Region of Ghana has is experiencing severe water shortage.
It was learnt that over 1000 students of the school have had
no water flowing through their taps for the past two weeks, as the only borehole in the school is
out of service.
Some students who spoke to Citi News indicated that they struggle daily to find water
outside the school for domestic activities.
“It is very painful and disheartening as friends
turn into enemies because of water, we even fight ourselves outside the school when we all
rush for water,” a student stated.
A usual sight in the school each morning is of droves of students moving to and fro the school
with buckets.
Some students wake up as early as 3 am to search for water outside the school.
“I can’t even remember the last time I took my
bath, I, believe is over a week now since water
touched my body,” one student said.
Some others have also threatened to go home if
the situation persists. The lamented that they
had spent all their money on sachet water

17-Year-Old Boy's Manhood Burnt For Allegedly R@ping A Little Girl
A young boy of 17 has got his manhood burned by angry couple for r@ping their 4 years old daughter.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Sokoto state, says it has arrested a couple for allegedly burning the manhood of a
17-year old boy following allegation that the boy
raped their four-year-old daughter.
The Commandant of the Corps, Babangida Abdullahi, confirmed the arrest in an interview
with journalists in Sokoto on Wednesday.
The Commandant pointed out that the couple, were arrested on Tuesday, at their Sama
residence, Sokoto.
According to him, “They alleged that the
teenager, a Senior Secondary School three
students, raped their four-year old daughter.
“So, they sponsored some boys who seized him
on March 24, took him to the suspects’ house,
the suspects severely tortured him and burnt
his manhood. “They also locked him up in a
toilet up to the following day, March 25.
“The victim was later taken to the Specialist
Hospital, Sokoto, where he is responding to treatment.”
According to Abdullahi, the couple was arrested
yesterday for allegedly taking the law into their
hands.
The commandant further explained that the
suspects would soon be arraigned in court upon
the conclusion of investigations.
The Father of the victim, Abdullahi Ibrahim, a
teacher at Sultan Bello Secondary School,
Sokoto, called on the state government to assist the family in seeking justice for his son.
He also appealed to the Sultanate Council of
Sokoto, local and international human rights groups, among others to intervene.

(1) Not Sleeping Well
Lack of proper sleep is a bad habit that can significantly hurt your
brain. It negatively

38-Year-Old Childless Woman Commits Suicide In Anambra(Details)
petty trader, on Tuesday took her life by hanging herself with rope
tied to a ceiling fan at her residence in 1, Ukpaka lane, Umusiome
village, Nkpor-agu near Onitsha in
Anambra state.
Okechukwu Odo, the husband of the deceased, said he and Lovina
had been married for over
eight years without a child.
Odo, a car washer, said he
returned home from work
around 6:30pm and met
sympathisers around his one- room apartment.
"I left home for work that
morning after taking my
breakfast; she had asked that I buy a tuber of yam for dinner when I
return," he said.
"When I returned, I saw
people gathered around my apartment only to be told that my wife had
killed herself."
Odo said he and the deceased had no misunderstanding that
could have led her to commit suicide.
Hassan Musa, divisional police officer (DPO) of Ogidi, confirmed the
story to NAN, saying the corpse of Lovina had been removed and
deposited at the Mortuary of Iyienu Mission Hospital.
"No suicide note was seen
around her but preliminary
investigation reveals that she might have committed
suicide because she had no
child," Musa said.

"You Will Regret It"– Sagay Tells The Senate For Threatening Buhari
The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay,
SAN, has warned the Nigerian Senate that it will regret its decision to threaten the president, Muhammadu Buhari.
The warning comes after the National Assembly
rejected the Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs, sent to it for confirmation by the
president on Tuesday.
Prof. Sagay who described the move by the Nigerian senate as “childish and irresponsible”
noted that the stance of the Senate is in protest against the president and his decision
to retain Ibrahim Magu as the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission, EFCC.
Sagay said:
“That action is childish and irresponsible.
Do they think Buhari is a man that can
easily be threatened? My God! How can
people of such character occupy the highest legislative office in the country?
Nigeria is finished.
“It is a great mistake and they will regret it.”
“Where the Senate is required to approve a person for a particular position and they refuse to do it, the person could continue to act depending on the nature
of the appointment.
“However, if the nominee is coming from
another sector, just like in the case of
the RECs, it means they cannot act.
However, people below that rank in INEC
can continue to act as RECs all over the
country as it has been done.”
“What this action means is that the
Senate is being occupied by the most
unserious set of Nigerians in history.
Nigeria is currently at its lowest level
because we have people who have no
sense of responsibility, who have no feeling and are there for just vanity and are ready to bring down the country in order to feel important, it is the worst case of abuse ever.

Oyinade went about her duty with smiles of victory on her face. She had successfully created a discord in that house. Now, the only thing she had to do was seduce him while
putting fire in that house continuously. She spotted
doctor Felix, being more lively and happy than usual.
She had heard people gossiping about Richard and Belina with long worried faces but she had
assumed that it was due to
the way and manner at which they both left her office.
She hadn’t noticed the whole drama where Richard carried an
unconscious Belina back to
the hospital.
“Doctor?” she called curiously
“Miss Oyin, hope your day is
going on well” doctor felix
faced Oyin.
“Very well” she said,
meaning each word.
“What
is going on? You look very
happy today”.
Apart from being an
exceptional doctor, Doctor
felix is not one to be trusted
with a secret. Whenever he
is happy about something,
he tells as many people as
possible.
“Oh… I am very happy. Mrs Branson was brought in by her husband after she practically fainted”he paused for emphasis.
This delighted her. The
shock had definitely taken
its toll on her. She knew
though that Doctor Felix
could not be smiling
because of this, so she
pressed on for the full gist.
“Oh my God…” she gasped
feigning shock. “And?”
“After reviving her, I
discovered the obvious. She
is pregnant”
“What” she exclaimed, her
blood draining from her
face, leaving her as white as
snow.

Richard got to his office to
pick up his phone and call
his dad, Tony, Prisca,
everyone his mind could
think of; but reason took
over him. His wife had to
know about her pregnancy
before any other person.
Besides, she is pregnant
person. He terribly wanted
to explode, so, he exploded
to God by thanking him and
thanking him until he was
sure God had
acknowledged his
appreciations.

take everything Belina had
brought to the office. He
would surely not allow her
lift a finger. As soon as she
awakens, his work for the
day would be over because
he would take her home to
take care of her properly
even if she wrestled with
him due to their earlier
fight, he vowed.

the mini reception room

minutes. He had been
waiting for Belina but luck
was definitely against him
today. Even though he
hadn’t planned with Oyin
and her accomplice to meet
with Belina today, he felt he
had to rekindle the fire of
the love they had once
shared hastily before it was
too late. Seeing Belina had
erupted emotions he had
tried hard to bury and he
had vowed to claim her
back. He had used his own
hands to destroy the wonderful love they had and he intended on creating it back.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Richard said through gritted teeth as he stared at the last person he wanted to see.
Kelvin rose upand faced his

launched his music and singing career with new single 'Sozinho'.
37-year-old Ronaldinho has not officially retired from football but hasn't played professionally

club ambassador for Barcelona.

a bid to crack the music business.
The Brazilian's fondness of music has long

Man’s Corpse Found Floating In A Hotel Swimming Pool In Lokoja(Photo)
It was quite confusing yesterday when the corpse of a young
man identified as Mohammed Suberu was found at a popular hotel in the state capital,Lokoja.
Reports also disclosed that the corpse was found floating in the swimming pool of the hotel,
located in Lokongoma Phase 2 area, where he
was said to have gone to swim in the morning of Monday.
The body was later taken to the state specialist
hospital in Lokoja where he was confirmed dead.
But the atmosphere became tensed when friends and colleagues of the deceased invaded the premises of the hotel.
The youths attacked the workers and property of the hotel, and
policemen had to be deployed to restore calm.
The general manager of the hotel, Audu Alhassan, would not speak on the matter.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO),
Kogi state command, William Anya, said when
the friends of the deceased mobilised to attack
the hotel, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) led
his men to put the situation under control.

Tragedy As A 5-Year-Old Boy Was Burnt To Death In Edo State (Photo)
A 5-year-old boy was burnt to death when a fire broke out in his home at Ijorgbor Street, Upper Sokponba road in Ikpoba-Okha local government,
Edo state.
The boy was reportedly locked inside a room with his brother by their father when the fire
broke out, engulfing their apartment.
According to neighbours, after their father locked them inside, he went out to buy something,
unfortunately, that was when the fire started.
Neighbours said they heard the deceased and his brother scream for help as they were
getting burnt and they rallied around to get the boys out of the burning house.
One of them finally succeeded in breaking through a burglary proof in one of the windows
and rescued one of the boys.
The other was not so lucky.
Osamudiamen Edobor, one of the neighbours of the deceased, spoke about the fire incident,
revealing that the intensity of the fire kept them from getting to the second brother.
“They have stove and generator in that room. The man was cooking in the room. It is sad that one of the children died,” Edobor said.
When contacted, the state police command spokesman, DSP Moses Nkombe, said he was
yet to be briefed on the incident.

I stood right there, at the entrance of Oyinade’s office,
staring in utter shock.
I could not believe my eyes.
Oyinade was definitely oblivious of the fact that I was in the office as she held on to Richard like a lifeline.
Richard tried to detach her on sighting me but she clung to his shirt, too busy crying.
I had left my office for Richard’s,
when I saw Oyinade’s door
open. I wanted to bypass it
and come back later to see
her but a familiar shirt stopped me. The alarm went off in my head as I stepped closer and I
instantly became convinced
that Richard was there. I
did not remember common
courtesy which required me
to knock before entering, I
just pushed the door wider and there, before me was Richard holding a crying Oyinade to his chest with his arms all over her.
Richard pushed Oyin away and her shock was evident when she saw me. Tears filled my eyes to the brim but I refused to give them the pleasure of seeing me
in tears.
I ran out of the office which was already chocking me. I heard
Richard calling but I ran out
like a crazy love-struck
teenager to the amazement
and shock of the staff.
Thank God we had a staff entrance and the patients
could not see me. I could not hold the tears as I ran, it came cascading down without stopping. I could not stop, no, I could not. I felt like throwing up, and I did. Thank God no one was
there.
I felt Richard’s approach even before I heard it. I sprung to my feet, desperate to get as far
away from him as possible.
He called me over and over but I turned a deaf ear, wiping more tears from my face but it didn’t stop.
Richard grabbed my hand
fiercely from behind.
“What is wrong with you, Bell?
Would you at least let me
explain” he yelled, looking
angry.
I shook myself out of his grasp. “Let me go” I shouted
“What you saw was nothing. I… she was going through an emotional breakdown caused by her fiancé and –”
“And what? And you decided to offer yourself as a substitute?” I said with pure anger.
He looked outraged and pained. “What? You don’t trust me? for how long have you had that doubt honey?” he said folding his arms around his chest.
“That girl told me… she told me yesterday but I did not believe her. I trusted you cos I thought you loved me”
I kept on lamenting, vibrating with tears of anger and hurt.
“What nonsense are you
saying? What girl? What did
she tell you?” I was confused.
I just could not stop my tears and even though Richard was deeply angry and hurt, he could not bare to see me cry. I saw it in his eyes. I became very dizzy
and everything rotated
around me. I felt Richard’s
arms around me in an
instant but I still summoned
strength to ask him to get
his filthy arms away from
me. He did not seem to hear
because he never left me
and I passed into a realm of
nothingness.

Oyinade jubilated like she never had in her life. She never expected things to turn out the way they did.
She had merely wanted to
put ideas into Richard’s mind by pressing herself to him. She could not imagine anyone being immune to her charms. She had also hoped that if luck shined on
her, she would have someone see them who could carry the gossip to Belina.
She had planned on seeing
Belina though, just to taunt
her with words but she
doubted that they would
have very far known that
she was a psychologist and
could deduce truth from lie
with a glance. A wide, evil
grin spread across her face
as she dialed Ronke’s
number to give her the
good news.

Richard held Belina in his
capable hands, racing
towards the hospital. His
heart was pounding wildly
even though he knew that
she just fainted and would
awaken soon.
“Bell… sweetie c’mon wake
up” he kept on saying as he
carried her. He entered
through the staff side and
some of the staff members
were around him in an
instant. They placed Belina on the stretcher and wheeled her into one of the rooms. Richard was denied entrance and he stood outside fuming in veiled
anger which was just a camouflage for the deep worry in him. He wanted to vex his power and authority as the head and owner of the hospital in order to enter but he knew that the doctor was doing what he
was paid to do. Apart from that, he is not one to be found guilty of pride. If he had been in a better state and if it hadn’t been Belina, he would have guessed
what the matter was without waiting for the doctor’s report.
He would have guessed it right from the start but some things
just skips you when you are
with the one you love.
Doctor Felix approached
with a smiling face. Even if
Belina were awake, Richard
still could not see why he
should be smiling happily.
“She is alright sir but asleep
now” he said still smiling.
Richard breathed deeply as
a sign of relief, still curious
though. Doctor Felix was
deeply happy for the couple
as he had been part of their
waiting period. He is a year
older than Richard but he
respected him more than
he could ever respect
someone five years older than him. Apart from Richard being his boss, he had taught him humility. He treated everyone equally and even though he was
probably the youngest millionaire in Nigeria, he was not puffed up with pride. The same goes for the ever beautiful Belina, he thought. The relationship Richard shared with his wife was one that he would
wish to have if he finally
found the right person.
He held Richard’s gaze with a grin, wondering how he could have missed that fact considering his unequalled
doctorate skills.
“Congrats sir, you are going to be a father”
Richard blinked and swallowed hard. “W… what are… what are you talking about?” he stammered.
Kelvin expected this.
“Your wife is pregnant sir”
